Contractors working for NBC Universal got their 15 minutes of fame -- or infamy -- after they were busted for stealing nearly $140,000 in electronic equipment from the company's 30 Rock headquarters, authorities said yesterday.Jermaine Francis, 31, and Michael Freres, 39, allegedly ripped off 13 electronic data boards from NBC studios in Rockefeller Plaza between Nov. 3 and Dec. 9.
Surveillance cameras caught the duo red-handed.
On Dec. 3, Freres was allegedly seen opening a closet and leaving with a box that he brought to the mailroom.
Francis allegedly transferred items to a different box, which he packaged and sealed.
A law enforcement source said the thieves sold at least one of the pricey pieces of equipment.
The suspects were arrested Monday on charges of grand larceny and burglary. They were being held on $7,500 bail. Their next court date is tomorrow.
